This cultural boycott builds on the example set by Palestinian initiatives and their Dutch and Belgian counterparts. Below are a few examples: read up and join!

BDS Movement

In 2005, 171 Palestinian corganisations called for peaceful resistance against Israel. They called for a boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel until it fulfils its obligations towards the Palestinians, in accordance with international law. DocP is committed to supporting, uniting and strengthening BDS in the Netherlands. In Belgium, vrede.be is committed to the campaign. Within BDS, PACBI is particularly relevant to the cultural sector: the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.

APARTHEID FREE ZONES

The Apartheid Free Zone campaign aims to play a leading role in creating spaces and places that are free from racism, discrimination and human rights violations such as apartheid. Participating in the campaign means that, as a public place, you take on an exemplary role by actively promoting universal human rights. This commitment can be put into practice by, among other things, excluding products from the illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and ending collaborations with Israeli and international companies that profit from or participate in the occupation. Towards Apartheid Free Zones is an artist-founded initiative that guides organisations through eight steps towards the ultimate goal of building an Apartheid Free Zone – check the Linktree on their Instagram page to get in touch with them.
